About Dr Rod Borrowdale
Dr Rod Borrowdale is a Brisbane educated surgeon who has been providing specialist surgical services, including gastrointestinal endoscopies, on the Redcliffe Peninsula for over 25 years.
Dr Borrowdale completed his medical qualifications, MBBS (Hons) at the University of Queensland in 1984. In 1992 he completed his advanced surgical training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and other affiliated South East Queensland hospitals.
After being admitted as a fellow to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS), Dr Borrowdale travelled to the United Kingdom and in 1993 underwent two years of Post-Fellowship training at the North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke.
During his time in Hampshire, he worked with world-renowned Colorectal Surgeon Bill Heald, and esteemed Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic surgeon Myrddin Rees.
After returning to the Greater Brisbane area in 1995, he was appointed as the Director of Surgery at Redcliffe Hospital.
For many years Dr Borrowdale served as an instructor for RACS courses such as Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP) and Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST).
He continues to work as a Senior Instructor for CCrISP courses.
Dr Borrowdale operates at Peninsula Private Hospital, North Lakes Day Hospital and at Redcliffe Hospital. He consults at North Lakes Specialist Centre and Peninsula Specialist Centre, Kippa Ring.
Dr Borrowdale also enjoys his role as an educator; he is regularly involved in the education of trainee surgeons, junior medical staff, and medical students from the University of Queensland.
